Our industry report on 2022 costs is now available.  The full report – available to members who contributed data and the CPT team for use in our lobbying work – contains a wealth of information about industry costs.  There are nearly 40 pages of analysis, although much of the data is set out in tables and charts so it’s anything but a dry read!  Data was contributed by operators with a peak vehicle requirement of nearly 80,000 so it is highly representative.  The report breaks down industry costs, examines operating costs per hour & kilometre, and analyses movements over time.  It also presents a range of KPIs covering service provision, fleet utilisation, fuel consumption, and staff productivity.

Those who contributed 2022 data should have received a copy of the full report but please get in touch if this isn’t the case.  If you would like to contribute data from February this year or future rounds and get access to these reports, please see the details in the separate article below.

A shorter report is available to all members, as well as local authorities and other stakeholders; this is available here CPT Cost Monitor 2022 Public Report (cpt-uk.org).  This looks at cost movements over time and will be useful in helping local authorities and others to identify appropriate increases in payments to operators.  This version does not use data collected from members as part of the project as it is intended to bridge the gap between the end of the old CPT Cost Index in 2019 and the collection of baseline (2022) data for our new ‘Cost Monitor’.  However, future versions for publication will compare data from operators and the next report will compare data from February 2022 and February 2023.

Unfortunately, there were so few contributions of coach data for 2022 that we weren’t able to produce a coach report.  We hope that this situation will change for future reports.
