June 14 2023

Fiona Hyslop MSP has been appointed as the Scottish Government’s new Minister for Transport.

She replaces Kevin Stewart MSP who was appointed in March 2023, but submitted his resignation on 6 June 2023 for health-related reasons.

Fiona Hyslop has been an MSP since 1999, first for Lothians from 1999-2011, and for Linlithgow since 2011. She served in various Scottish Government ministerial and Cabinet Secretary roles from 2007 to 2021, latterly as Cabinet Secretary for Economy, Fair Work and Culture.

The announcement also sees Cabinet Secretary Màiri McAllan’s remit amended to ‘Transport, Net Zero and Just Transition’ allowing her to take a greater day-to-day role in the transport brief.

In other changes, ‘tourism’ has been added to the job title of Richard Lochhead, who will now be Minister for Small Business, Innovation, Tourism and Trade.

We look forward to meeting with the Minister and Cabinet Secretary soon.
