The think tank IPPR have published new research into bus fares.
Responding to the publication of the research, a CPT spokesperson said:
"It is always great to see research on the issues which face the bus sector.
"Fares are just one tool that can make buses more attractive. We also need a focus on priority measures which will keep buses out of congestion, speed up journey times, and ensure buses are reliable. Factors which we know are important for passengers.
"Lots of CPT members are already running £2 bus fare caps on single journeys, and we await to see the impact this has on passenger growth in the coming months, as well as the launch of the Government’s national £2 bus fare cap scheme in January."
