Responding to widespread media reporting of further delays to the implementation of the EU's new entry/exit system at UK borders, CPT told reporters:
CPT is currently awaiting further information from the UK Government on the implementation of the EU’s Entry/Exit System following widespread media reporting that implementation will not take place on the previously announced date of Sunday 10 November 2024. CPT will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep our members informed of any developments.
Notes for Editors
The Entry/Exit System (EES)) is a new automated system for registering non-EU visitors crossing the external borders of the Schengen Area, which will replace manual passport stamping with digital records. The system will be applied at key UK ports, including Dover and Folkestone(Eurotunnel), which are critical gateways for passenger travel.
