The Confederation of Passenger Transport has announced the appointment of Aaron Hill as its new Director of Partnerships and CPT Cymru, with responsibility for increasing CPT’s presence locally, and supporting its members to influence local transport authorities.

Aaron will take on the newly created role in January following his tenure as Director of CPT Cymru, where he led strategic engagement with the Welsh Government and the Senedd, and championed the role of bus and coach operators in delivering reliable, sustainable transport for communities across Wales.

In the new position, Aaron will oversee CPT’s partnerships and regional engagement across England. He will work closely with members, and strategic partners to build relationships with local transport authorities and mayors to ensure that CPT’s national priorities for the industry are reflected in local delivery.

In addition, Aaron will retain oversight of CPT Cymru at executive level, supported by a new Head of CPT Cymru, to be recruited in the new year.

Aaron Hill said: “I am delighted to be taking on this role at a time when effective partnership working is more important than ever. Buses and coaches play a vital role in supporting economic growth, improving connectivity and driving decarbonisation across every part of the UK. I look forward to working with our members and partners across the regions to strengthen CPT’s collective voice.”

Graham Vidler, Chief Executive of CPT, said: “Aaron has made a significant contribution during his time leading CPT Cymru and brings strong policy insight and trusted relationships to this new role. His appointment underlines CPT’s commitment to deepening engagement across the UK and ensuring regional perspectives shape our work.”

Aaron joined CPT in 2023, having previously been Director of Policy with the Scottish Federation of Housing Associations and Head of Policy with Wales-based organisations including Community Housing Cymru and the National Deaf Children’s Society.
