Rural Zero Emission Bus Taskforce

CPT established the Rural Zero Emission Bus Taskforce in June 2023 to identify the specific challenges facing operators of rural bus services. Whilst the transition to zero emission vehicles continues to be a challenge for all the bus sector, these challenges are exacerbated for rural services due to their nature.

Zero Emission Coach Taskforce

CPT established the Zero Emission Coach Taskforce at our Zero Emission Coach Conference in December 2021. The decarbonisation dividend: the economic, environmental and social benefits of more bus and coach journeys

The Confederation of Passenger Transport, the trade body for the bus and coach industry, has commissioned WPI Economics to analyse the role that switching car journeys to bus and coach journeys (“modal shift”) may have in achieving the country’s net zero emissions goal. This report summarises the result of the first stage of the project, demonstrating why modal shift is necessary to ensure a just transition to net zero and desirable for its multidimensional benefits, while the next report will assess different policy interventions to demonstrate that modal shift is possible.

Bus Decarbonisation Taskforce

The Bus Decarbonisation Taskforce is a group of senior stakeholders from across the Scottish bus industry, finance, energy and Government. It will create a pathway to decarbonisation for Scotland’s public service bus fleet. CPT represents our members’ interests within the group, advocating a just transition to zero emission.

We are delighted to launch the Coach Strategy, the industry’s first official strategy outlining vital role of coach in UK society and how, with Government support, the industry can thrive and play its full part in the economic and green recovery from the Covid-19 pandemic.

Moving Forward Together

The Moving Forward Together strategy sets out how we can get 1 billion more journeys by bus by 2030.

 

The strategy includes new commitments from the industry, including a pledge to work with government to make every new bus an ultra-low or zero emission bus from 2025.
