What is Bonded Coach Holidays (BCH)?

Published: 31-07-2014

Bonded Coach Holidays is a scheme set up to provide consumer protection for packages holidays operated by operator members of the Confederation of Passenger Transport UK Ltd (CPT).

Under the Package Travel Regulations 1992, operators organising package holidays must provide by law in the event of insolvency:

 - Protection for clients’ payment

 - Repatriation of passengers back to the UK

The CPT is one of seven bodies approved by the Secretary of State for the Department for Business Innovation and Skills, under Regulation 18 of the Package Travel, Package Holidays and Package Tours Regulations 1992, to operate a scheme to provide this protection. The scheme is specifically designed to cover coach based package holidays and as such membership is considerably cheaper than other schemes that cover air holidays and cruises.

The scheme is managed by the Finance Director of CPT and a management board elected from the members.
