We are well aware that this issue of CPT’s Business Matters will be vying for your attention alongside the plethora of pamphlets and information sheets being distributed by the political parties.
While any political moment seems to be important for our industry, a general election hitches things up several notches and demands an ever greater attention to details likely to affect the everyday lives of our passengers, employees and businesses.

Business Matters - Autumn/Winter 2010
Any year with a general election brings its own challenges to a trade association, particularly when the outcome is so uncertain and the economic conditions less than rosy. But our CPT staff are experienced in such matters and it was fascinating to be on the inside, so to speak,watching while they prepared the ground to ensure the interests of our industry were being attended to. We were one of the first to be called in by the new Transport Secretary to provide him with a state of the union – and hard on the heels of that came meetings with the Bus and Coach Minister to talk about specific issues on both of these aspects of his policy responsibility. Indeed, following on from our most recent meeting with him in September, Norman Baker is not only visiting this year’s EBE Show in Birmingham, but he is also one of the star turns of the seminar programme run throughout the event
