Political & media

The Confederation of Passenger Transport UK (CPT) is recognised as the lead voice in promoting the interests of the [mainland] UK’s coach, bus and light railway industries at all political levels. We are the focus for consultation and negotiation on national and European/international legislation, local regulations, operational practices and engineering standards.
Whether it is negotiating on legislation with Ministers in Westminster, Cardiff or Edinburgh, European Directives in Strasbourg, or on more day-to-day matters with Local Authorities, CPT’s team of experienced public affairs specialists actively ensure Members’ voices are heard and their interests safeguarded.
Members directly benefit from the relationships CPT has developed over time with Ministers, politicians and policy advisors at all levels. We are consulted on changes in legislation and policy and therefore ensure that Members’ voices are heard and their interests safeguarded, right at the heart of Government.
CPT’s specialist media relations team promotes our Members’ services, and defends them when we are under attack. In addition to our Crisis Control service, the Communications Team seeks to secure positive coverage of our Members’ services, gaining maximum publicity for their many successes up and down the country.
